                                                                         Plymouth Canton Civitan Club Business Meeting
                                                                                                  Minutes for August 6, 2026

Members present: Cheryl VanVleet, Gail Blucher, Kathy Turnquist, Gary Turnquist, Carol Chanter, Jacquie Norton, Karen Kenniburg, Carol Swan, Hal Hultman, Linda Hart and guest - Arlene, Cheryl Ramsden, Bill McCarville, Kay Fales, Sandy Drauss & Mary Stewart
1) Meeting was called to order by Cheryl VanVleet at 6:30 pm.
2) Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Hal.
3) Additions & Corrections to Agenda: Under Administration add H Website.
4) Correspondence: Sandy was presented a 1st Member pin from international for sponsoring her first new member!
5) July Minutes: Gary made a motion and Carol Chanter seconded. Motion passed to accept the minutes.
6) Treasurers report: Treasurers report was given. Gary. made a motion to approve treasurers report, Jacquie seconded it. Motion passed.

7) Administration: a) New members Cheryl Ramsden and Linda Hart were recognized and welcomed.
           A)    Celebrated Kathy and Lynne’s birthdays.
           B)    Next business meeting will be on September 3rd at the Salvation Army.
           C)    Summer Picnic will be at the Plymouth Township Park at 6PM on August 20th. Kathy and Gary to bring hot dogs, brats and buns.
                   Members will bring a dish for a pot luck.
           D)   Officer installation and awards banquet will be at the Red Lobster, Wayne Rd, Westland, 9/17/26 at 6:00pm.
           E)   Region 6 Conference October 9-10th at Doubletree hotel 42100 Crescent Blvd, Novi. We will hold the Michigan Civitan foundation
                 meeting at the event and encourage all Michigan members to attend on Saturday Oct. 10th. More information to come.
           F)   Social outing at Purple Rose on October 7th at 3PM Jacquie has 14 tickets on hold and can get more. This is a world premiere
                 by Devin Scillian about two old men who reminisce about their lives. Cost approximately $40.00. Call Jacquie if interested in
                 attending. Arrive early. (Kathy, Gary, Sandy, Mary, Cheryl, Hal, Bill and Jacquie will attend)
          G)   Update on Members Health: Maureen is in rehab at Maple Manor from a fall, she is not progressing well, members are encouraged to
                 call her. If you do call, tell her to turn off the tv so she can hear you! Norm had surgery last month, is suffering pain from kidney stones
                and was in hospital a fall and is in rehab now. Barb Szymanski had surgery, her hands were not working which turned out to be a
                vertebrae in her neck. She is doing better now. Viv has been in a lot of pain and is taking steps and meds to improve. Rosemary
                Garbarino had a stroke and is not doing well, she will be taken off the rolls as a member.
           H)   Club Officer Elections: Cheryl will be president, Kathy treasurer, Gary VP Service, Mary & Sandy VP Funds and Jacquie VP Admin. This
                 will be Kathy and Gary’s last year in their positions and are looking for members to shadow and takeover for the following year. Bill
                will shadow Gary. We need a recording secretary and president elect for 2026/2027 year.
          I)   Website: Sandy made a motion and Jacquie
               seconded to approve $318.00 to keep Weebly and associations to continue our website. Motion passed. Gary may change name to a .org. 
         J)  Future meetings, Sandy offered to host any future meetings needed at her home. She will do this years Christmas party and check her
               calendar for the first Saturday in December.

8) Funds:
         A)   Charity Poker will be Sept 24th thru 26th at Vision Lanes. Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday days. A sign up sheet
                 was passed around. Please call Mary if you can volunteer, spots remain open.
         B)   Fall Festival Photo Booth will be Sept 11th thru the 13th. A Sign up sheet was passed around, many spots are open. Sheet will be
               available at our dinner meeting. Call Cheryl if you can help.

9) Service:
          A)   Ford Road Clean up will be on Sept 23rd. Meet at 9am by Office Max on Ford road near Morton Taylor.
          B)   Plymouth Historical Museum USA 250th. Cheryl provided items for display, looks good. She has two free tickets if any members are
                  interested in going.
           C)   Operation Good Cheer: Cheryl will be asking members to adopt one or more children at the picnic.
           D)   Donation for Civitan International Walk & Roll: Cheryl will be going to the International Convention in Louisville and participating in the
                   Walk & Roll event to help fund the research center. Sandy made a motion to donate $250.00 out of MP account in Cheryls name and
                   Karen seconded. Motion passed. C) Focus Hope: October 17th. Meet on northwest corner of Costco in Livonia. Gather at 8:15am and
                   leave at 8:30.
          E)    Donation request from Anastasia and Katie’s Coffee shop was made to help a family in urgent need of emergency resources. They lost
                  their home and their father died unexpectedly, Daughter has Down syndrome. They seek money for funeral and living expenses.
                  Gary made a motion to donate $1,000.00 from the MP account to help and Sandy seconded. Motion passed.
         F)     Several members have offered to volunteer to stay with Susan Utz’s husband, Carl so that Susan can run errands.

11)   Adjournment: Motion was made by Mary and seconded by Gail. Motion passed and meeting was adjourned at 7:55pm.
